Derek Castillo is a 2019 3B/RHP, IF with a 5-11 198 lb. frame from Beeville, TX who attends A C Jones HS. Medium frame with present strength and physicality aiding the offensive profile. Primary third baseman with deliberate actions and quickness to hands. Release is pretty quick out of the gather with developing arm strength. Graded out best on the mound with a full and online arm action. High leg lift above the belt and showed an extended release toward the batter. Good tempo and works quickly while mixing in an 11/5 curveball. Upright, open stance with a deeper hand load. Righthanded hitter with a slightly lifted swing plane. Flashed bat speed with strength through the point of impact. Looking to turn the barrel and work to the pull side with good carry to that gap. Excellent student.
