Alec Gonzalez is a 2020 SS/RHP/IF with a 6-1 188 lb. frame from Flossmoor, IL who attends Marian Catholic. Solid athletic build with good strength in his lower half. Right handed hitter, short leg lift trigger with an easy glide into contact, some barrel wrap to start his swing and creates some barrel whip, has quickness to his hands and the ball comes of the barrel well, gap to gap power and can create some back spin, consistent timing and barrel, repeatable swing mechanics that should lead to consistent high contact/high average performance. 6.85 runner, stays balanced well in the middle infield on defense, shows quickness and good range side to side, can adjust his arm slot and make accurate throws from different arm slots. Also pitched, fastball topped out at 90 mph with some downhill plane when he was on time, short breaking slider, shows arm strength on the mound but is a primary infielder. Good student, verbal commitment to Tennessee.
