CJ Carron is a 2018 RHP/1B, 3B with a 6-2 175 lb. frame from Ridgeland, MS who attends St. Andrew's. Large frame with broad shoulders and a lean, athletic build. Primary right handed pitcher with a medium rock step to leg lift delivery. Stays flexed with slight coil over back leg at gather. Utilized lower half well showing drop and rive action to the plate. High energy release from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball generated some downward plane through the zone with some running action to arm side, topped at 82 miles per hour. Showed two planes with breaking ball showing good depth in the mid 60's and solid sweeping in the low 70's. Created some deception at released and effective kept hitter off balance throughout each inning of work. Aggressively attacked hitters early in counts with fastball before going to off speed late in counts. Also worked out defensively form the infield showing smooth paced, deliberate footwork while surrounding the baseball. Developing glove skill sand with clean, loose exchanges. Released from a loose three-quarters arm slot creating some carry across the infield at 78 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, open stance and high back elbow set. Aggressively shifts into contact with linear lower half actions. Flashed solid bat speed on a loose, extended path to contact. Barrel came through the zone on a slightly uphill plane. Swung with intent to drive the ball through the outfield gaps. Excellent student.
