Mason Thomas is a 2020 LHP/1B/OF with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Fishers, IN who attends Fishers HS. Solid athletic build with good upper half strength. Leg lift delivery, stays on line very well with his lower half, very compact arm action in back and hides the ball very well, works from the third base side of the rubber, late hand separation, Mitch Williams delivery without the severe fall off at release. Fastball topped out at 83 mph, velocity plays up due to deception, will need to work on repeating fastball release point and developing better fastball command. Can throw slider far more often, quality tight spin with big depth at times, showed better slider command than fastball command. Showed good athleticism at first base defensively and will be an asset at that position. Right handed hitter, exaggerated spread/open stance with a double tap close, gets to his front side early, uses his hips to generate bat speed and handles the barrel well. Key to development with be improving fastball command and use, tools are there. Good student.
