John Martinez is a 2020 OF/RHP with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Gurabo, PR who attends Puerto Rico Baseball Academy. Medium athletic build with the beginnings of some present strength. 6.81 runner, gets out of the box and is fast home to first base. Moves well to the ball in the outfield, short strides through the ball and can improve his balance through release, has a quick over the top arm action and good carry on his throws. Right handed hitter, spread stance, shifts well into contact and will occasionally get out front early, deep hand load, swings hard and creates some bat speed, pull to mid field approach, has the hitting tools to keep improving with adjustments. Also pitched, big rocker step into a high leg raise delivery, compact arm action to a high 3/4's slot, has energy in his delivery and will rush and loose balance. Fastball topped out at 80 mph, did not show a secondary pitch. Good student.
