Jack Young is a 2020 SS/RHP with a 5-9 165 lb. frame from Leclaire, IA who attends Pleasant Valley HS. Young athletic build. 7.57 runner, has solid fundamental actions in the infield, smooth footwork and balance through the ball, plays under control, shows range to both sides and the ability to make the play off his feet, plays with an inner tempo on the infield, nice carry on his throws for his age, all the makings of a very good defensive middle infielder. Right handed hitter, good shift through contact from an upright stance, simple and sound hitting approach, line dive swing with a direct path to contact, has the beginnings of some bat speed that will improve with physical maturity. Also pitched, compact fast paced delivery, repeats it well. Upper 70's fastball mostly straight, likes throwing his slider which has good depth and pretty tight spin. Young athlete who is fundamentally sound and will keep improving. Good student.
