Mark Kattula is a 2020 3B/1B with a 6-0 195 lb. frame from Sterling Heights, MI who attends Adlai Stevenson. Large build, solid lower half with a some room to fill with added strength and plenty of time to do so. Primary third baseman, solid actions to the baseball, mostly fluid exchange fielding the ball with two hands and gathering well into throws, some arm strength that will get better as he matures, lower arm slot releasing by ear, accurate throws. Also pitched, worked exclusively from the stretch setting up closed lifting leg to belt line, little effort delivery, short arm action to an over the top arm slot, stays directional to the plate with slight lean back towards the first base side as he leads to the plate, fastball showed slight cutting action, mixed in a 12-to-6 curveball with good depth, forced contact to hitter with solid command. Righthanded hitter, wide base, high hand set with a high back elbow, leg kick trigger, short and quick to the baseball, good bat speed and barrel control, consistently squared up the baseball with hard contact to all parts of the field. Great student.
