Jack McKeehan is a 2022 1B/RHP, 2B with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Coto De Caza, CA who attends Santa Margarita Catholic HS. jack is a solidly built athlete who shows two-way ability that projects. In addition to his solid skill set on the field, Jack is also an exemplary scholar. He ran a 7.26 60yard dash. As a primary first baseman, Jack is solid. His footwork is sure and he positions well. His timing to field is excellent and his glove is pure and smooth. He transitions quickly and his 77 mph throws are firm and accurate. Jack also took a turn on the hill. He has a short takeaway and a whippy finish to his arm action. He repeats his mechanics well and works down the hill routinely. He pitches off his 77-80 mph fastball that shows advanced command and control. His heater shows plus arm side run and heavy sink. His 73 mph change up is a plus pitch that he has great feel for. The CH is thrown with fastball arm quickness and tunnels from the FB window making that offering highly deceptive and effective. His 71 mph curveball is a short, quick, late breaker that he throws relatively hard. It has traditional 12/6 shape, but doesn't have the big hump that a lot of developing HS CB's do. Although his future lies at 1B, because of his ability to swing the bat, Jack can pitch and pitch quite well. At the plate, Jack shows a solid approach and a great idea on how the swing the stick. He utilizes a wide base and his path a tick long but it doesn't affect him getting his barrel to and through contact with force. He can impact the ball. There is noticeable strength in his hands and shoulders and he knows how to use that. He cuts it loose and never gets cheated. He makes consistently loud contact and flashed some solid raw power that should only get better. Jack has all the tools and has two HS years to get even better. Solid upside for this talented player.
