Gregory Wirin is a 2022 C/1B with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Interlaken, NJ who attends Christian Brothers Academy. Recorded a 5.48 second forty-yard dash time. Long, lanky frame with narrow shoulders and plenty of room to add strength. Primary catcher with a fundamentally sound defensive skill set. Works from a wider, even based stance to receive softly out in front, while gaining some ground towards his target out of the crouch. Displayed fairly direct and quick mid-line transfers to throw, recording arm strength up to 71 mph from behind the plate. Stays relatively compact through the process, mimicking game like actions during drills. Right-handed hitter that hits from an a slightly open stance with high hand set, high back elbow and small toe-tap trigger. Incorporates minimal weight shift into contact, while exhibiting rotational lower half mechanics to create bat speed and torque. Aggressive approach with mostly pull-side intent, flashing some present bat speed and lift to his swing path. Displayed developing bat-to-ball skills with some strength through contact when on-time, will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and additional strength. Good Student.
