Carson Byers is a 2022 LHP/1B, OF with a 5-5 148 lb. frame from Mattawan, MI who attends Mattawan. Short frame with a large build and square shoulders. Primary lefthanded pitcher with a side step delivery into a leg lift to the belt. Creates some coil at the gather. Longer take back into a three-quarters arm slot. Shows some arm quickness through delivery with extension through release. Straight fastball that sat in the mid 70's and topping out at 76 miles per hour. Relied heavily and worked off of a 1-to-7 curveball with occasional tight spin. Showed varying feel for the pitch but was effective and created weak contact. Also flashed a short running changeup on occasion. Worked out defensively as a secondary first baseman. Fields the ball out front and funnels to the body. Has some actions around the bag and makes accurate throws across the diamond. Also worked out from the outfield. Short strides to the ball while fielding to the side. Creates some whip in arm action creating soft carry to the infield topping out at 76 miles per hour. Lefthanded hitter with a slightly open stance. Utilizes a heel lift trigger for timing. Has a lot of moving parts in approach but can repeat and find the barrel with consistency.
