2019 Atlantic Coast Prospect Showcase
Jonathan Villa is a 2020 C/OF with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from Lumberton, NC who attends Lumberton. Medium frame with athletic, strong build; ran 60 yard dash in 7.42 seconds. Hits from even-based stance with toe tap trigger, cocks hands back into load, excellent bat speed through the zone, torques hips into swing well, whole-field approach with consistently-squared line drives, good strength in hands, found the barrel consistently all weekend and hit the ball hard repeatedly, good offensive performance. Primary catcher, receives well out front and makes clean transfers, turns hips well into throws, length to arm stroke, clocked up to 72 mph with best pop time of 2.16 seconds in drills. Also took outfield reps, fields cleanly off of front side with two hands and works through the ball, stays balanced, clocked up to 79 mph on throws with solid carry. Very good student, named to 2019 Atlantic Coast Showcase Top Prospect List.
