Garrett Ries is a 2019 C/ with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Robins, IA who attends Xavier. Lean build with an athletic frame. Ran a 6.95 60-yard dash. Primary catcher. Shows quick feet when coming out of the stance and gains ground towards the bag. Can get caught leaving the lower half behind. Smoother transfer and releases from a compact three-quarters arm slot. Lefthanded hitter with a spread and slightly crouched stance. Starts with a high back elbow. Linear lower half actions to contact. Uses a simple path to the ball with good extension through contact. Generates natural leverage in swing with good carry to the pull side gap. Shows solid bat speed. Very good student. South Dakota State University commit.
