2019 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
Nick Banowetz is a 2020 C/3B with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Robins, IA who attends Xavier. Medium frame with square shoulders and room to add. Ran a 7.09 second 60-yard dash. Worked out defensively as a primary catcher. Receives out front and into transfers. Quick and clean exchanges from a compact arm circle. Gains ground to the bag and produces carry to the bag topping out at 82 miles per hour and popping a 1.82 during workouts. Secondary infielder staying low throughout field from out front. Has athletic footwork moving to and through the baseball. Gets on top of throws well and can create carry when staying on target topping out at 86 miles per hour. Righthanded hitter with a wide stance to start and utilizing a leg lift trigger for timing. Produces bat speed with some strength in upper body and swinging the bat with intent. Gets the barrel head through the zone working from gap to gap. Excellent student as well. Named to the 2019 Spring Top Prospect Showcase Top Prospect List.
