Carsten Sabathia is a 2022 1B/3B with a 6-4 240 lb. frame from Alpine, NJ who attends Bergen Catholic. Extra-large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present strength proportioned throughout frame. Primary first baseman, shows athleticism in actions, turns with balance away from the bag, picks it well out of the dirt and big target for infielders to throw to, works behind the ball nicely, ball comes out cleanly with present strength and carry. Right-handed hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a hanging leg lift trigger for timing in the box. Loads hands back at start of swing but strong enough to come out of it on time, present bat speed through the zone and shows comfort turning on the ball. Full swing path through the zone, best contact when separated out front, power to pull side stands out and ball jumps hard off when squared off the barrel. Excellent student. Selected for the 2021 Perfect Game All-American Classic.
