Mario DeMera is a 2020 SS/3B with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from San Mateo, CA who attends St. Ignatius College Prep. Medium frame with broad shoulders and beginnings of strength. Primary shortstop, stays low while traveling through the baseball. Quick glove to hand exchanges. Developing range to each side. Released from a compact three-quarters slot creating on line carry at 80 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and quick leg lift trigger. Stays in middle of swing and works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose, extended path to baseball with a level barrel plane through extension. Looks to connect with baseball out front while employing a mid field, line drive approach. Also pitched utilizing a side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side and worked to plate with drop and drive actions. Stiff arm circle at take back and released from a compact three-quarters slot. Fastball showed some natural cut out of hand to glove side in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 78 miles per hour. Flashed some run as well when working fastball to arm side. Good feel for a 10/5 curveball that had looser spin and occasional depth in the low 60's. Tools will continue to develop with maturity and repetition. Excellent student.
