Monty Gibson is a 2021 MIF/RHP, 3B, OF with a 5-9 145 lb. frame from Scottsdale, AZ who attends Chaparral. Compact frame with a lean build. Primary middle infielder with aggressive footwork while working to the baseball. Showed developing feel while funneling the baseball and worked through exchange. Released from a compact three-quarters arm slot creating some carry with developing accuracy to the bag, topped at 63 mph. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing similar aggressive actions while closing to the baseball. Funnels out front and maintained momentum towards the bag while working through transition. Released from a compact three-quarters arm slot generating uphill carry to the bag at 67 mph. Left handed hitter with a upright, even stance and simple front side trigger. Stays on back side and works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose hand path to contact and works through extension with a linear barrel plane. Showed developing feel for the barrel while employing a mid field to opposite field approach. Also pitched working exclusively from the stretch. Simple, repeatable high leg lift delivery. Created good direction to the plate with lower half. Clean arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters slot. Fastball generated occasional run to arm side in the mid to upper 60's, topped at 68 mph. Curveball displayed loose 11/5 shape with occasional depth in the mid 60's. Outstanding student.
