Brian Saldana is a 2023 1B/RHP, C, 3B with a 5-11 155 lb. frame from Middletown, NY who attends Middletown. Large, square shouldered frame with present strength to frame and additional room to grow moving forward. Ran an 8.66 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman, fields the ball out front, works to a longer arm action, glove actions play at the ball, overall footwork will continue to develop. Also caught, receives the ball out front with a wide base in set up, upper body dominant mechanics and can incorporate additional lower half into release, low effort release, arm strength will keep improving. Small side step into a belt high leg lift on the mound, some drop and drive to lower half mechanics and lands on line through finish. Long and loose arm action working to a high three-quarters release point, fastball topped out at 72 mph, flashed sinking life when down in the zone and filled up the strike zone. Curveball shows 10-4 shape with short depth, tends to slow arm at release and mixed a changeup with fading action at 66 mph. Switch-hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow from the right side; loads hands at start and utilizes a leg lift trigger. Upper body dominant swing, gets extended out front and flashes back spin when squared, has timing triggers to swing, looks to lift. Stays short to the ball from the left side with a wide base base and a high hand set and back elbow in the box, can implement additional weight shift through lower half, works to the pull side.
