Ryan Schechner is a 2020 LHP/OF with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Bellmore, NY who attends Bellmore JFK High School. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout. Ran a 5.51 40-yard dash. Primary lefthanded pitcher, works exclusively out of the stretch, belt high leg lift before breaking into a long arm action through the back before getting to a high three-quarters release point. Some drive off back side and can continue to incorporate additional lower half. Fastball topped out at 78 mph, mostly true in life with occasional run to his arm side. Threw strikes and mixed in a curveball with feel for the pitch, shows depth and 1-7 shape at 63 mph. Fields the ball out front in the outfield, long takeaway into a full arm action, comes through the ball well, shows carry when on top of throws. Lefthanded hitter, begins with an open stance and a high hand set and back elbow, gets closed moving into contact. Moving parts to swing, gets to front side early at times but shows fluidity to stroke through the zone. Full swing path to point of contact, shows jump off the barrel when squared and on time, projects with added strength. Good student.
