Jackson “Birdie” Gifford is a 2021 3B/RHP, 1B, OF with a 5-11 195 lb. frame from Santa Cruz, CA who attends Harbor. Medium, broad shouldered frame with present physical strength proportioned throughout frame. Ran a 7.21 60-yard dash. Primary third baseman, fields the ball out front, short arm action through the back, takes short steps moving towards the ball, will continue to refine overall footwork, opens front side early on release, around the bag with throws. Also pitched, full arm action through the back working up to a high three-quarters release point; pitched to contact and filled the strike zone, up to 79 mph with fastball, mostly true in life through the zone. Curveball shows depth up to 69 mph, tends to slow on release. Righthanded hitter, begins with a spread stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing in the box. Aggressive early in count, stays short to the ball and shows strength in his hands. Subtle shift, quickness upon launch and shows jump off of the barrel with back spin to pull side, looks to impact at contact. Very good student.
