Jackson Runyon is a 2024 RHP/UT with a 5-10 132 lb. frame from Suffolk, VA who attends Nansemond-Suffolk Academy. Medium, square shouldered frame with a lean, projectable build and room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.64 60-yard dash. Primary pitcher, begins with a simple turn into delivery, leg lift up past belt, gathers weight slightly on backside before coming down the mound; fuller and quick arm action through the back working to a three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 79 mph, ball comes out of hand well and projects moving forward; mixed a curveball in the mid-60s with short depth and 11-5 shape when working on top of the ball. Also worked out in the outfield, shorter steps moving towards the ball, fields the ball out front, slows at the ball and can maintain footwork through the ball better, shows carry on throws to intended bag with a shorter arm action through the back. Righthanded hitter, begins with an even stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Full swing path through the zone, bat speed will continue to improve with added strength, keeps hands inside the ball and shows comfort working to the pull side part of the field.
