Cleveland’s workouts and batting practice in Fort Myers weren’t noteworthy but he really turned it on once the games began. Cleveland showed us very good in game bat speed and power potential. He shortened his stroke from BP and took advantage of his natural strength. Cleveland has the look of someone who should hit very well at the college level. Cleveland really threw the leather around at third base, too, making several outstanding defensive plays. He has very soft hands and while he doesn’t run particularly well underway, has quick feet that always put him in position to make a strong throw. Cleveland took a turn on the mound and while we don’t normally do this, we’d recommend that he consider not pitching in the future. He throws 82-83 mph but has a very violent head jerk and arm action and is risking injury every time he takes the mound. It would be a shame to waste his outstanding potential as a position player for a couple of functional innings. Cleveland is a very good student who has signed to go to Florida State. If scouts take a long look at him, they will be very interested.
