Manuel Dorantes is a 2025 3B/RHP, C, SS with a 6-1 205 lb. frame from Castroville, CA who attends Salinas High. Recorded a 8.05 second sixty yard dash time. Large frame and thick build with present strength. Primary third baseman with a short arm action and release, generates some whip to the arm. Great carry across at 77 mph, some feel for the glove present, body and arm project well at a corner spot. Also worked out at catcher, shows a high set up with quick transfer at the chest, gains good ground towards second base. Secondary right-handed pitcher, gets down the mound well with drop and drive mechanics. Short, clean arm action with ¾ arm slot. Hides the ball well. Moves fairly athletically for size. Repeats delivery well. Primarily used fastball throughout out. Offering sat 76-79 mph, touched 81 mph, with slight downhill plane. Throws pitch with intent. Not afraid to go at hitters. Still refining command. Around the zone often but rarely spotted up. Had ability to overpower hitters. Arm action and velocity allows for offering to get on hitters quick. Curveball sat 67 mph with downward action and some tilt. Had bite, especially down in the zone. Go to pitch with two-strikes. Occasionally will throw early in count. Has swing and miss ability. Tough for hitters to pick up. The size and pitch mix is impressive for age. Has the ability to get whiffs often. Should only get better with continued development. Right-handed hitter with a short and direct hand path to the ball, gets some jump off the barrel to the pull side gap when on time and squared. Easy operation with a good stroke, has advanced strength for his age and it shows at the plate, generates solid bat speed and has power potential moving forward. Named to the 2021 14U Sunshine West Showcase Top Prospect List.
