Carlos Gonzalez is a 2021 RHP/1B, 3B with a 6-2 202 lb. frame from Frisco, TX who attends Independence. Recorded a 8.08 second sixty-yard dash time. Larger frame with some present lower half strength. Primary right-handed pitcher; incorporates a simple side-step rocker into a slightly higher leg lift to work down the slope using drop and drive lower half mechanics. Fastball worked in the low-to-mid 70s for the most part, topping out at 75 mph in this look from a compact three-quarters arm slot. Attack mentality, challenging hitters with fastball that flashed occasional downhill plane and mixing in a slower curveball that showed loose 10-5 shape and gradual depth. Secondary infielder with deliberate footwork into and through the fielding process, fielding slightly deep and working uphill to throw. Incorporates strong lower half to get moving towards the bag upon fielding. Right-handed hitter that hits from an upright, slightly open stance with a high hand set, high back elbow and leg lift trigger. Contact oriented stroke with minimal weight shift into contact and an elongated swing path. Developing bat-to-ball skills with occasional line drive contact to the pull-side when on time and in sync. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments. Excellent Student.
