Addison Johnson -- Johnson is a left handed sophomore outfielder/pitcher who is short on size but very long on athletic tools. He’s an above average MLB runner right now. We got him down to first base twice in 4.06 and that’s after taking a good swing. Johnson also threw 88 mph from the outfield, which is MLB above average arm strength. Johnson hits out of a simple no load approach at the plate but generates impressive bat speed with lots of lift in his swing. He’s going to lose a lot of balls down the right field line with a metal bat in his hand. With wood, Johnson does tend to roll over the ball a bit out front, but with his speed he’s going to beat out some of those ground balls. On the mound, Johnson threw plenty of fastballs at 85-86 mph with sharp diving action when he stayed on line to the plate. His curveball was 66-67 with a big break and he also showed some feel for a change up. Johnson definitely has a very lively and strong arm and could easily be a 90 mph guy in the future. Don’t sell this young man short because of his size, he has some big-time tools. He's only a sophomore and he's already a highest level DI prospect as a 2-way player. OF/LHP, hard telling what will happen if he grows a lot. Keep a very close eye on this kid.
