Chris Messina is a 2025 LHP/OF with a 5-9 160 lb. frame from East Northport, NY who attends Commack. Medium, strong looking frame with a high waist, square shoulders and plenty of room to physically mature. Recorded a 5.25 second forty-yard dash time. Primary left-handed pitcher that worked from a full windup delivery with good lower half movements down the slope and good rhythm to his movements. Fastball worked in the low-80s for the majority of his outing, ticking up at times and topped out at 84 mph from a compact three-quarters arm slot. Strike thrower that attacks with his fastball early, showed plenty of natural arm-side run to his fastball. Mixed in developing breaking ball that varied in shape, flashing more sweep than vertical depth to it. Changeup is better secondary at present with mimicked arm speed and fade to it. Will continue to improve with proper mechanical adjustments and additional velocity. Secondary outfielder with aggressive footwork into the fielding process; gathers cleanly off his front foot and transition into an intent filled release. Recorded accurate throws up to 86 mph during drills. Right-handed hitter that hits from an even based stance with a tight hand set, low back elbow and toe-tap trigger. Incorporates rotational lower half mechanics and generates easy bat speed. Intent based stroke with quick, direct swing path and developing feel for the barrel. Impacted the baseball best to the pullside, flashing legitimate power to that side. Projectable, strong looking prospect with tons of upside on the mound, will continue to improve with minor refinements and additional velocity. Fundamentally sound defensive skill set with some offensive prowess. Excellent Student. Named to the 2023 Northeast Indoor Showcase Top Prospect List.
