Emir Encalada Jr is a 2022 RHP/1B with a 6-3 172 lb. frame from Laredo, TX who attends John B Alexander. Large build with room to still fill out and strengthen as he continues to develop, posted a 7.11 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary pitcher, has a longer arm action that reaches down and back then fires up to a three-quarters slot. Mid leg lift with a pointed toe at the top. Fastball up to 81 mph with good natural arm side run. Mixes n a 73 mph straight change with some good depth. At first base, stays in front of the ball well and fields out in front. Makes accurate throws to all bags and shows good footwork. In the infield, is meticulous with his reads off the bat, glove works well out in front, longer arm action across the diamond. Moves well into the hole as well as up the middle. At the plate, uses a tall and even stance with a simple stride trigger. Still understanding his rhythm and timing with the pitcher, Looks to use the middle of the field. Great student in the classroom as well.
