Justin Cook Jr. is a 2022 SS/RHP with a 6-1 158 lb. frame from Whitehouse, TX who attends Whitehouse HS. Tall athletic build for his age, has some present strength with lots more to come. 7.38 runner, moves well side to side in the infield and has some lower half quickness, young footwork will develop with experience and repetitions, makes accurate throws and has a projectable arm. Right handed hitter, hits from a spread bent knee stance, shows good bat speed for his age and is aggressive at the plate, showed feel for the barrel in the games with a mid field to pull approach. Also pitched, high 3/4's arm slot, front side tends to open early leaving his arm behind, has some deception and hides the ball well behind his body. Upper 70's fastball, topped out at 79 mph, mostly straight, maintained his velocity very well. Slider is more of a cutter, smallish break to get off barrels, acts more as a change up. Competed well. Has plenty of tools for a rising freshman and projects well. Very good student.
