Mike Miranda is a 2007 3B/P with a 6'1'', 230 lb. frame from High Springs FL, who attends Buchholz HS. He has a thick, soft body that is deceivingly quick and athletic. Miranda's best tool is his bat. He's a prolific home run hitter at the high school level and it's easy to see why. Miranda has a very open stance and quiet approach. He's looking to pull the ball hard but does a very good job of keeping his swing short to the ball. He has very good bat speed and ideal extension out front for his type of hitter. The ball jumps off his bat hard and when he gets his pitch he crushes it with authority. Defensively, Miranda is a nice third baseman with arm strength, lateral range and soft hands. He ran the 60 in 7.21. Miranda also took a turn on the mound and was an effective secondary pitcher. His fastball was steady at 83-85 with cutting action from a full windup and he threw strikes and got ahead of hitters. He throws a twisted 74 mph slider that has a big slurve type break that hitters didn't like much, either. Miranda is a very skilled baseball player with tools and you just have to overlook the body. He should be a very nice college level player.
