Mason Barela is a 2024 SS/RHP with a 5-8 180 lb. frame from Jupiter, FL who attends Jupiter. Medium frame with a sturdy build showing strength already in the frame. Ran a 7.52 second sixty yard dash. Primary Shortstop, working well around the baseball as he does a good job staying behind the baseball. Deep funnel and then works into transfers. Accurate from multiple slots as he threw it 79 mph across the diamond during drills. Secondary Right-Handed Pitcher, proving to be athletic on the mound as he stayed balanced throughout the delivery and proved he could repeat himself. Easy arm action as he released from a three-quarter slot. Crossfire type delivery that added a natural deception to his pitches. Fastball up to 80 mph and mixed in a tight spinning breaking ball in the upper-60's. Went right after opposing hitters and proved he could fill up the zone with his two pitch mix. Right-Handed Hitter, starting narrow before working into a quick load and trigger. Linear swing path as he proved he could generate bat speed with strong hands. Drove it gap to gap during his round and proved to have more power in the bat down the road with a strength gain. Mechanically sound swing as he found the barrel consistently. Outstanding Student.
