Zack Turpin is a 2024 1B/RHP, 3B with a 6-3 207 lb. frame from Waukee, IA who attends Waukee. Large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present strength proportioned throughout. Ran a 7.72 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman, sound gather behind the ball and hands play out front at the ball, longer arm action through the back with effort at release, shows some footwork and will continue to refine away from the bag, shows arm strength on throws across diamond. Secondary right-handed pitcher, works from a square stance on the mound. Max effort thrower on the mound. Higher 3/4 arm slot. Used a FB/CB combo to compete in the zone, and keep hitters off balance. Fastball showed some natural cut action with higher spin rates. Curveball showed depth and tilt, spinning at 2466 rpms. Right-handed hitter, begins with a taller stance and wide base in the box, utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing in the box. Swings with intent and creates whip through the zone, occasionally mistimed with path but able to generate some jump off of the barrel when working on a line and connecting for line drive contact, some length through the zone and point of contact. Additional strength to tap into moving forward. Good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
