Joshua Ward is a 2023 SS/RHP, C, 2B, OF with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Hilo, HI who attends Hilo. Medium and skinny frame with plenty of room to fill and time to do so. Ran a 7.83 second 60 yard dash. Primary shortstop, fields the baseball out in front rounding it well at gather, athleticism to actions, clean hands and a playable exchange to his bare hand, flashed well to glove side during drills. Secondary righthanded pitcher, works exclusively from the stretch, takes his arm back to a loose arm stroke up to a high 3/4 arm slot, uncoils off of back leg before driving to the plate, fastball topped out at 77 mph, mixed in a developing curveball with 11-to-5 shape. Also worked out in the outfield, topped out at 81 mph from a compact arm action, online release. Righthanded hitter, sets up at the plate with a spread out and open stance, loads with a bat wrap, takes a long swing path to contact, line drive swing plane but will get uphill with plane at times, ability to hit the ball to all parts of the field.
