Gio Mota is a 2023 C/2B with a 5-9 165 lb. frame from San Marcos, CA who attends San Marcos. Medium, square shouldered frame with some present strength and additional room to fill moving forward. Ran an 8.05 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, lower set behind the plate, shows actions and replaces feet well coming out of crouch, quick transfer with a longer arm action through the back, arm strength will continue to develop, shows accuracy to second base. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set at the plate; utilizes a toe tap trigger for timing. Creates present bat speed through the zone and shows a smooth path with a high finish through the ball. Incorporates lower half well, works to the middle of the field, shows impact when squared to pull side part of the field. Good student.
