Chris Ramos is a 2007 right hand hitting catcher from East Coweta HS, residing in Newman, GA. Ramos has a physically mature and strong build on his 5'11" 195 lb. frame. He looks the part of a durable, workhorse catcher. Ramos showed enough all-around ability at PG National to suggest a good college future and possibly beyond. His strongest assets with the bat were some present day power and a nice looking swing, good pitch recognition and bat speed. Ramos did a nice job of staying in the middle of the field and not trying to do too much with each pitch. He picks up the ball pretty early but is not overly picky. He showed the ability to cover the plate and get his knocks. He is strong enough to hit the ball out of the yard and on inner half pitches Ramos showed that he can clear his hips and turn on the ball. His barrel can get a bit long through the zone but he gets started on time, making that swing length work for him to stay in the zone. Behind the plate he showed that he has strong hands and can stick a stiff fastball. His arm is average in terms of raw arm strength, as were his pop times in the workout. Ramos does what needs to be done first by a catcher, he catches strikes and keeps them in the zone. He is capable of being a consistent, average type thrower who will get his fair share of runners but his strength will be in receiving and controlling the game at the plate. He ran 4.81 home/1st, with a 7.66 60 yard time.
