2022 Great Lakes Indoor Showcase (Sunday)
Drew Dawson is a 2023 OF/RHP/IF with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Plymouth, MI who attends Plymouth. Recorded a 7.04 second sixty yard dash time. Large and projectable frame, lean and athletic build with present strength. Primary outfielder with an aggressive approach, keeps his movements compact and efficient. Shows present athleticism and arm speed, plays through the ball well with clean transfers and a quick release. Solid defensive tools present. Secondary right-handed pitcher, utilizes a full wind up and coils into the back hip well with a belt high leg lift. Fastball shows cutting action, tends to fly open and pull the ball at times, rather than staying on top and creating downhill plane. Developing command at present, mixed in a change of pace curveball as well. Left-handed hitter with an open and wide spread stance, utilizes a hanging leg lift trigger and a high hand and back elbow set. Tends to swing around the ball at times, will hook balls to the pull side. Creates leverage well and looks to elevate, his strength is evident in the swing. Found good barrels during BP and in game action, showed the ability to go the other way during game action as well, has the tools to really improve moving forward. Great student.
