2021 California Workout Camp Session 5
Robert Salazar is a 2024 OF/LHP, 1B with a 6-1 151 lb. frame from Norwalk, CA who attends La Habra. He ran a 7.54 second sixty. A primary outfielder with a lean lengthy build. In the outfield he showed some feel for the glove fielding the baseball out front bending at the waist and moving with some fluidity through the baseball, the arm action works longer through the back to a lower arms lot creating some arm side run on his throws. At first base he showed soft hands funneling the ball into the belt with good footwork on the double play feeds. On the mound he does a nice job staying closed throughout the delivery with a slight coil at the top of the leg lift, the arm works long through the back to more of a three-quarters arm slot with the fastball sitting 71-73 mph in the zone consistently with flashes of arm side run. The curveball has 1-7 shape and will be better with more conviction as will the changeup that showed slower arm actions as well. Left-handed hitter, starts narrow and coils into the load with little hand movement pre-swing, he creates some leverage working mostly to the pull side and showing some feel for the barrel. Excellent student.
