Thomas Welsh is a 2007 RHP/OF with a 5'11'', 155 lb. frame from Fairfield CA, who attends Armijo HS. He has a lanky and thin body type that is still physically maturing. As he continues to get stronger, his abilities are going to stand out much more. Welsh pitches from an over the top slot and has a loose arm. He pitches with easy effort and has a patient, controlled, easily repeatable delivery. One of his best attributes that speaks well for his future is his feel for the baseball. Welsh is a quality strike thrower. He kept all his stuff down in the zone and used a very effective three pitch mix to keep the hitters off balance. His fastball was 76-81 and as he gets bigger and stronger, he will make incremental velocity jumps. He showed very good feel of his change-up, which was his best secondary pitch. His curveball is slow and serves as a nice change of pace, but will need quite a bit more velocity to be used as more than that. He did throw strikes with all his pitches. Welsh is a good student too.
