John Johnson is a 2023 RHP/C with a 5-8 165 lb. frame from Houston, TX who attends St. John's. Smaller frame, medium build with room to fill and time to do so. Recorded a 9.27 second 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher, simple side step to balance, raises hand and glove above head with a slight pause, stays online to the plate well, long arm action with an easy release through a three-quarters slot, around the zone consistently with both pitches, curveball works out of 11 to 5 shape with depth through the zone. Secondary catcher, worked out behind the dish with a low setup, starts squared, replaces feet well, short and quick arm with accurate throws. Right-handed hitter, starts talls and even with a high back elbow, leg lift trigger with a middle of field approach and developing strength off impact.
