Juan Garcia is a 2021 SS/RHP/2B with a 6-2 160 lb. frame from Round Rock, TX who attends Hendrickson. Ran a 7.20 second sixty-yard dash. Primary shortstop with a tall and athletic frame. Shows plus footwork that allows for easy positioning, has a nice rhythm and flow to the fielding actions, rounding the ball well and fielding out front with a clean funnel in. Soft hands allow for a quick transition to throw, making accurate throws from an easy over the top slot at 79 miles per hour. While the arm strength is still developing, the actions and accuracy are advanced. Has a slightly crouched stance at the plate, with a high hand set and big leg kick trigger. Shows the ability to get hands extended and make solid contact out front, with a slightly lifted barrel plane and some present pop to the pull side gap. Has present bat speed that helps the swing project for more. Secondary right-handed pitcher that starts from the windup, with a small side step into a leg lift that reaches just above the belt. Creates good direction down the mound, landing slightly closed and coming across the body some at release. Has a medium arm action in the back, coming through from a three-quarter slot and attacking the arm-side edge with fastballs up to 80 miles per hour. Shows some feel to spin a slider at 68 miles per hour. Named to 2019 South Prospect Showcase, Top Prospect List.
