2021 Spring Midwest Workout Showcase (Saturday)
Mason Lang is a 2023 C/3B, OF with a 6-0 190 lb. frame from Chaska, MN who attends Chanhassen. Recorded a 7.21 second 60 yard dash time. Medium frame and stocky build with present strength. Primary catcher with a low set up and smooth footwork, gains good ground towards second base. Gets the ball out quickly and has a clean transfer when he is under control, tends to rush the transfer at times. Some arm strength present, throws downhill, the potential and tools are there moving forward. Secondary third baseman, shows feel for the glove, good on the backhand, quicker release with developing accuracy. Can change arm slots, limiting range at present. Left-handed hitter with an even base and a small lift and replace trigger. Looks to make contact out in front of the plate, shows compact bat speed with simple and explosive movements. Dives into contact, collapses into the back leg at times. Has some power in the swing, impact potential will improve as he gets the barrel in the zone earlier and stays linear with his hip rotation. Consistently hit hard and low line drives to the pull side, swing projects well moving forward. Excellent student. Named to the 2021 Spring Midwest Workout Showcase Top Prospect List.
