Nolan Stewart is a 2009 RHP/2B with a 5'11'', 158 lb. frame from New Canaan, Connecticut, who attends Choate High School. Stewart is a young player who has a medium frame with an athletic build. He has a projectable body. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a long arm action. Stewart has solid arm speed and his athleticism shows through his delivery. He gets cutting action on his fastball that topped out at 80 mph fastball. Stewart has solid control of all his pitches, including his 64 mph curveball and his 70 mph change-up. He has a good feel for his change-up and maintains his arm speed on the pitch. Defensively he has good body control in the middle of the diamond with developing arm strength. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a slightly open stance with a high back elbow. He uses a no stride approach and shows solid bat speed through the hitting zone with a line drive swing plane. Stewart is a contact hitter who will put the ball in play. He is a good student as well.
