Autumn Peterson is a 5’5, class of 2023 C/OF, from Muscatine, IA who attends Muscatine HS. She is a quick, strong, and confident athlete who has unquestioned projectable collegiate ability, especially as a catcher. She has playable speed and quickness as evidenced by her 3.38 20 yard/60 foot dash and 5.60 shuttle run. In the outfield, Autumn shows a very mature and consistent approach to her defensive game. Her footwork is sound, and she plays through the fielding action well. Her glove plays. She transitions quickly and her strong arm allows her throws to show carry and accuracy. Autumn is a certain college player as a catcher. She is calm and her body language exudes confidence. She presents a sure target and shows a low profile at the ready. Her hands are soft and sure, and she receives the ball well. She appears to possess the ability to frame any pitch. Her quick transition to throw is impressive. She has both the athleticism and coordination to throw the ball from her knees and her throws show both carry and accuracy. Lastly, Autumn acts like, and has the look of, a “field general”. She appears to have an ability to lead a defensive club and manage a pitching staff. Offensively, Autumn has a solid base and sound swing mechanics. She is a competent bunter and can certainly help a club with her ability to get the ball on the ground. Her swing operation incorporates a sound lower half and when on time, she can move the ball, especially to the gaps. Autumn is a definite college prospect, especially as a catcher. She has an advanced ability. With a couple of high school and travel ball years left, and an apparent drive to succeed and improve her already impressive ability, she absolutely projects to the collegiate level. (cjm)
