2005 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase
Cody Brown is a 2006 RHP/1B from Etowah High School in Woodstock, GA, with a 6'2'', 185 lb. frame. He has a thick, strong, and athletic body. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot and stays on top of the ball. He has a deceptive delivery with a slight pause at his balance point. Brown gets good run on his fastball that tops out at 74 mph. Hitters don't get clean swings against him and he induces many ground ball. Brown has solid command of his pitches and mixes in a good curveball at times at 64 mph, and a 68 mph changeup with slight arm side fade. Defensively he has soft hands at first base with nice footwork around the bag. The left handed hitter has good bat speed and gets leverage at contact showing his raw power. Brown centers the ball well with good bat speed, and has a good knowledge of the strike zone. Brown has two-way potential but we like him better as a hitter at this time. He has the chance to be a middle of the order hitter at the next level. He is also an outstanding student.
