Alex Cheeseman is a 2023 SS/2B with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Commerce Twp, MI who attends Brother Rice. Showed plus speed with his 6.51 second sixty. Primary shortstop with an athletic build showing some present strength throughout the build. Showed good twitch with proper footwork working around the ball and making each play with clean glove actions. The arm strength stands out with easy carry across the diamond and the ability to stick on the left side of the infield. Right-handed hitter, starts with an even base and upright stance, uses a smaller stride to trigger the swing showing good intent through the hitting zone. Showed some ability to stay through the middle of the field at his best creating back spin when he matches plane and creating power with a quick lower half. Excellent student. Named to the 2022 Great Lakes Indoor Showcase Top Prospect List.
