Lawson Wood is a 2024 RHP/OF with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from Trussville, AL who attends Hewitt-Trussville. Big athletic build with good strength for his age. Quick and clean mechanics on the mound, stays over the rubber well, compact arm action coming through. Fastball worked mostly in the mid-70's, topped out at 79 mph early, mostly straight with occasional cutting action. Breaking ball was his best pitch this day, showed the ability to manipulate the size and speed of the pitch, has tight spin and some sharpness, missed plenty of bats with the pitch and shows feel for locating it. 7.43 runner in the sixty, plays the outfield when not on the mound. Right handed hitter, hits from a straight stance with a tight low hand start, long stride out, uphill with plane with a power approach, looks to pull the ball. Good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
