Ryder Sheffield is a 2028 SS/RHP/2B with a 5-6 121 lb. frame from Marshville, NC who attends North Stanly. Young, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean frame, room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.13 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, moves well on feet and attacks the ball with active footwork, clean glove skill out front, showed ability to change release point, occasionally gets under the ball at release, arm strength will continue to develop. Also pitched and proved to be effective working from both a submarine slot and a traditional three-quarters. Kept hitters off balance, up to 74 mph from 3/4 slot; worked around the zone from both slots and showed bigger horizontal movement on slider at 57 mph from submarine slot. Right-handed hitter, begins with a slightly open stance and a lower hand set at the plate; does a nice job of staying direct to the ball with a linear path. Turns and incorporates lower half well in swing, contact oriented approach with some extension in swing and impact back up the middle and to the pull side. Repeats swing well, occasionally gets to front side early.
