Chase Mahoney is a 2023 OF/RHP with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids, IA who attends George Washington. Large frame with a lean build and wiry strength. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary outfielder with smooth footwork while traveling to and working through the baseball. Clean glove actions at pick up and worked through exchange with fluidity. Carries momentum to target while releasing from a three-quarters arm slot, topped at 77 mph. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing developing footwork while rounding the baseball. Funnels from from a slightly deeper position and flashed some range to glove side. Released from an over top arm slot creating some on line carry to the bag at 76 mph. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and large leg lift trigger. Employed an uphill barrel plane through extension. Flashed bat speed through the zone while looking to the drive the ball to the middle of the field. Created some carry to each outfield gap when squared. Also pitched showing a side step to medium leg lift delivery. Lands in line with target while driving to the plate with drop and drive actions. Loose arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Fastball produced good downward plane through the zone in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 78 mph. Curveball had 10/5 shape with looser spin and shorter depth in the mid 60's. Also flashed a changeup offering in the mid 60's. Looked to locate each offering to the bottom of the zone while showing developing feel for the edges of the plate.
