Craig Burton is a 2008 OF with a 5'9'', 140 lb. frame from Walnut Creek CA, who attends Las Lomas HS. He has a lithe, lean body that is still physically maturing. There is some life in his body that should stand out more as he gains strength, which will also enhance his tools. At the plate Burton displayed a handsy, whippy swing that had some liveliness. His hips work well and can generate more power than his slight build might suggest. He is a spray hitter and can keep the bat in the zone. In the field Burton showed solid outfield play fundamentals. He gets his body behind his throws, using a crow hop technique. He is an accurate thrower, though he will need to speed up his release. Burton also showed good hands. He is an outstanding student and has some upside as a player. College programs should put a follow tag on him.
