KC Fall Softball Scouting Combine Afternoon Session
Sydney Potter is a 5'9, class of 2023 C/1B, 3B from Runnells, IA who attends Southeast Polk HS, Elite! Not just "kinda good", Sydney is among the best of the best. Strong. Athletic. Agile. Just a few words to describe what Sydney brings to her highly advanced game. She ran a 3.36 20-yard dash with a 1.26 5-yard split. A catcher with a skill set that is DI ready, Sydney displays an ability reserved for on the very best at her position. All of her actions are so easy, fluid, and routine, that she makes catching look a lot simpler than it truly is. She is comfortably confident. She presents a low profile at the ready. She receives routinely with noticeably soft hands. Quick, smooth, and easy transition. Her 58-mph throws play much higher in velo and her 1.83 pop time is unheard of . Only a very small percentage of catchers in the country can throw like Sydney. Impactful ability. She could catch in college....today. What separates Sydney, by a lot, from a lot of players in her class, is her ability at the plate. She may NEVER be called upon to bunt...but she can. She starts with a wider base and stays in her legs creating big torque. When she lets her lower half go, it creates BIG power. She has a whippy bat and advanced feel for the barrel. Sydney has an all-fields approach and can leave the yard anywhere. And her power is awesomely impressive! Loud, forceful contact and the ball goes and goes in a hurry. There are no holes in her game. With two years of HS and travel ball left, Sydney is certain to continue to climb many national prospect lists. Big time upside, Unlimited potential! Can't miss ability!
