2005 Pitcher/Catcher Indoor Showcase
Alex Bellusci is a medium framed 2006 right handed pitcher from Illinois. He throws from a drop and drive style and really throws his lead leg hard at the hitter. Bellusci has a hard time maintaining consistent balance and a consistent release point with this fast shift towards the plate. His fastball was mostly in the 77-78 mph area, topping out at 81 mph, and he had very good sink and run on most of his pitches. Bellusci’s change up was his best secondary pitch; it looked like he used a 3-finger grip and maintained very good arm speed on the pitch. His curveball suffered from his arm being so far behind his body on his delivery and was 61 mph. At the plate he showed very good bat speed from a wide stance. He uses a slight leg kick as a trigger, and has strength in his swing that will improve with more lower half involvement. Bellusci is a solid two-way prospect, and is an excellent student.
