Sam Pines is a 2023 1B/RHP with a 6-1 155 lb. frame from South Windsor, CT who attends South Windsor. Large, square shouldered frame with a high waist and long limbs, lean and projectable build with room to fill throughout. Ran a 7.36 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman, fields the ball out front with a wide base, long arm action through the back with extension out front, developing actions off the bag, repeats mechanics. Also pitched, works exclusively out of the stretch, similar long arm action through the back, strides online, creates some cutting action to fastball up to 70 mph. Pitched to contact and worked around the zone; flashed a curveball at 61 mph with loose spin. Righthanded hitter, begins with an even stance and utilizes a short leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Does a nice job of staying short to the ball, handsy swing with a mostly linear path, occasionally gets uphill with plane. Contact oriented approach, works to pull side and creates some separation to swing, projects with added strength.
